Colonias Chiropractic Center is an interdisciplinary pain care center that adheres to the highest standards by providing a teamwork approach to the delivery of that care.

Chiropractic Care

The chiropractic care we offer includes comprehensive examination to determine the sources of the patient’s complaints, designing treatment to address the sources of complaint, and teaching the patient self- help activities and exercises to contribute to healing. Specifically, we evaluate patients for whether pain is arising from nerve problems, joint problems, and/or myofascial trigger points. If pain does not arise from the conditions that we treat, we refer patients to the appropriate medical provider. We provide very systematic care of myofascial trigger points including releasing the muscle knots and elongating the involved muscles. We use a range of techniques to treat joint restriction and tenderness. For patients who like and respond well to quick popping types of adjustments, we provide very gentle specific adjustments after we have already treated any tight muscles that are involved. For those who do not like or do not respond well to quick popping kinds of adjustments, we use a range of low or non-force techniques that work well. To help with muscle relaxation and reduction of inflammation, we apply hot packs, ice packs and spray and stretch techniques. Nutritional and exercise advice is given to patients to assist with their rehabilitation.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapists perform skilled release of myofascial trigger points and tightened fascia.  They are critically important in our treatment of victims of auto accidents because they do detailed work to help restore muscles as closely as possible to their pre-accident state.  They also provide instruction in stretches and self-care activities.

Medical Pain Management

Medical Pain Management is also a part of our team care.  Arthur “Spike” Lynch, M.D. is highly skilled in pain management.  Trigger point injection is valuable in interrupting the cycle of myofascial pain in many patients.  Dr. Lynch is an expert in this technique, not just injecting where pain is located but injecting trigger points that may be at some distance from the pain location but are contributing to that pain.  Dr. Lynch also performs prolotherapy, a medical technique that helps strengthen ligaments and tendons to increase the stability of injured areas and reduce that pain that arises from the instability.

Low Level Laser Therapy

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is a form of alternative medicine that applies low-level (low-powerlasers or light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to the surface or orifices of the body. Whereas "high-power" lasers are used in laser medicine to cut or destroy tissue, low-power lasers are claimed to relieve pain or to stimulate and enhance cell function.

Kinesio Tape

Kinesio Tape alleviates discomfort and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation, reducing pressure while enabling a more effective flow of blood and lymphatic fluid in and out of the target area.
