Based on protocols developed by Dr. Lucy Whyte Ferguson, D.C.
Myofascial pain refers to units of muscles and fascia, (or the casing over and between the muscle fibers). Myofascial pain is caused by trigger points which can cause local and referred pain close to, or distant from the trigger point. We evaluate the muscles that can harbor trigger points and treat any that seem to directly refer pain. We also seek to normalize muscle tone in the other possible contributors, even if the abnormal tone in these muscles cannot be demonstrated as directly causing the patient’s pain. We work to reorganize and balance the body and improve posture by releasing joint and muscle restriction and restoring normal function to reduce the strain on the injured area.
Comprehensive pain management and wellness care focused on the treatment of myofascial pain, accidents and injuries, and repetitive strain injuries.
Treating Taos county and beyond since 1992.
